My name is Ryan Engel, I’m a 2004 graduate of ISU with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Since I graduated from ISU, I have worked full time at Boeing in Seattle, Washington.
I have participated in the field test and certification of numerous Boeing products including the 787 and the 747-8. I have had the opportunity to work closely with airline customers on in-service fleet performance issues. Additionally, I have worked large scale integration projects for the 777 Program.
I am currently the manager of the 747-8/767/777 Regulatory Administration team at Boeing Commercial Airplanes. My team is responsible for the certification of all Major Changes to Type Design. To do so, we work closely with the Boeing design engineering teams and the FAA. In addition to this, my team works closely with foreign civil aviation agencies on validation of Boeing products around the world.

August 22, 2016 at 5:51 pm #224jreesMemberMy name is Joe Rees, I’m a 2011 graduate at ISU with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. While at ISU I was part of a wining AIAA Design-Build-Fly team. I also did a co-op with Boeing in St. Louis.
Since I graduated I starting working for Boeing as a Configuration Design Engineer for the Research and Technology division designing and analyzing new advanced concepts. I started working in Huntington Beach, then in St. Louis and now I’m in Seattle. I’ve had the chance work on just about every type of vehicle in every flight regime.
I really enjoy connecting back with ISU students working on M2I projects. These projects are a great real world experience where you can learn practical skills before working in the industry.

Great question, and fortunately there are tons of passionate aerospace engineers out there that like to provide free information and tools. For proprietary reasons I can’t provide any info on things we use internally but here are a few sites with good notes and excel, Matlab or windows programs associated with them (as always, start with an “easy” case to check the functionality for correctness).
